MILWAUKEE — A 23-year-old rookie pitcher stole some attention from the slugger soon to be 43.
Tim Lincecum allowed four hits in eight innings, Pedro Feliz homered and drove in three runs and San Francisco won again without a hit from Barry Bonds, beating Milwaukee 8-0 Saturday.
Bonds went 0 for 2 with two walks and remained at 753 career home runs, two from Hank Aaron's record. Giants manager Bruce Bochy wouldn't say if his star will play in today's series finale.
Bonds will face another of Aaron's former clubs — the Atlanta Braves — starting Monday night in San Francisco. He will likely want to play all seven games of the homestand, including his birthday Tuesday.
Lincecum (5-2), San Francisco's top draft pick in 2006 from the University of Washington, retired the first 11 Brewers before 11-time Gold Glove shortstop Omar Vizquel couldn't barehand Ryan Braun's high bouncer that went for an infield single.
The kid with the funky delivery who's called "Franchise" by teammates showed why the Giants think so highly of him, striking out eight with one walk.
Bochy was going to let the right-hander pitch the ninth, but changed his mind after the Giants scored five in the top of the inning.
His performance was a big change from his appearance in Milwaukee on June 19, when he was tagged for six runs and five hits in four innings.
"It's kind of, I guess, a 180-degree turn," said Lincecum, who has been working to keep his wrist loose on his changeup. "I'm just feeding off the good stuff, disregarding the bad stuff and moving on."
