LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers plan to interview Atlanta Braves hitting coach Terry Pendleton for their vacant managerial job.
Team spokesman Josh Rawitch confirmed that Pendleton is scheduled to meet with Dodgers officials Wednesday.
The Dodgers hope to have a manager in place by the end of the week, but a firm timetable hasn't been set.
The team has interviewed five candidates to succeed Jim Tracy: Terry Collins, the team's farm director and a former big league manager of the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels; Alan Trammell, fired as manager of the Detroit Tigers on Oct. 3; Jerry Royster, manager of the Dodgers' Class AAA team in Las Vegas; Torey Lovullo, a manager in the Cleveland Indians' system, and Ron Wotus, bench coach for the San Francisco Giants.
Note
• Joe Girardi, New York Yankees bench coach, met with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for the second time to discuss the team's vacant managerial opening. Girardi, who has also interviewed with Florida, met with Devil Rays executives Matt Silverman and Andrew Friedman in New York.
