Memphis rallies in 9th to defeat Rainiers, 3-2

TACOMA — Brandon Berger homered in the top of the ninth inning as Memphis beat Tacoma 3-2 last night in Pacific Coast League action. The loss ended a five-game winning streak by the Rainiers (22-23).

Jamal Strong, Chris Snelling, Abraham Nunez and Ramon Santiago each had two hits for Tacoma.

Note

• Rainiers reliever George Sherrill strained the triceps muscle on his left (throwing) arm Tuesday at Cheney Stadium. He's scheduled to have an MRI today on his upper arm. Sherrill had not yet been placed on the disabled list as of last night, but he is expected to be.

Sherrill, the Rainiers' closer, is 1-2 with a 2.18 earned-run average and six saves. He was called up to the Mariners for one day May 15.
