Mariners
The Mariners have 10 days to trade, release or outright Bocachica to the minor leagues. Seattle recalled left-handed pitcher Bobby Madritsch from Triple-A Tacoma to take Bocachica's spot on the roster. Bocachica's primary role with the Mariners this season was as a defensive replacement. "He's a guy we like," Mariners manager Bob Melvin said. "Hopefully he can clear waivers and we can keep him around." Bocachica had three doubles, one home run and four RBIs in 62 at-bats. "We didn't get him very many at-bats, and that's a hard situation for a guy who was used to playing every day in the minors," Melvin said. "But he accepted his role and we'd like to have a spot for him." Madritsch was 5-2 with a 3.75 ERA in 12 starts with Tacoma this year. Copyright © 2004 The Seattle Times Company
