Spokane police helped animal control officers remove more than 30 dogs and cats from a Spokane home where the stench was so great that workers wore hazmat suits and respirators.

Spokane police helped animal control officers remove more than 30 dogs and cats from a Spokane home where the stench was so great that workers wore hazmat suits and respirators.
SpokAnimal CARE representative Marilyn Meyer described the animals removed Wednesday as "bone thin" and said they had been sleeping in their own feces.
Meyer said the agency has dealt with "innumerable" complaints about the resident's animal care.
Marsha Erskin tells The Spokesman-Review she's been harassed by the animal control agency. She says she's been working two part-time jobs recently and hasn't had time to clean up after the animals.
