Eastern Washington has signed 20 high school football players to national letters-of-intent with a keen focus on adding depth to the Eagles secondary.
Six of the 20 signed on Wednesday are defensive backs. But the biggest arrival could be quarterback Bowe Merin out of St. Mary's High in Stockton, Calif. EWU coach Beau Baldwin compares Merin to recent QB Bo Levi Mitchell and former Eagles star Eric Meyer.
EWU also signed six players from the state of Washington, including wide receiver Cooper Kupp out of Davis High in Yakima; linebacker Jordan Pulu from Federal Way High and safety Miquiyah Zamora from Chiawana High in Pasco.
Baldwin says there were holes at nearly every position and those needs were addressed.
