PULLMAN, Wash. —

Washington State guard Faisal Aden suffered a torn ligament in his left knee last week and his college basketball career is over, the team said Tuesday.

Aden is WSU's second-leading scorer and he ranks ninth in the Pac-12 with an average of 14.5 points per game. He also leads the league in free throw shooting percentage at 89.4 percent.

Aden was injured in the first half of Washington State's loss at Arizona last Thursday, a few days after being named Pac-12 player of the week for scoring a total of 57 points in wins over Stanford and California.

"Him being a senior, he is finished at Washington State," coach Ken Bone said. "That's difficult for anyone."

"He was coming off his best weekend as a Cougar," Bone said. "Obviously we are going to miss him tremendously.

Aden was born in Somalia and raised in San Diego. He played two years at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla., before joining WSU last season. He averaged 12.7 points per game last season.

Bone said the results of an MRI received Monday confirmed the torn ligament.

The Cougars may also lose guard Mike Ladd for the season, Bone said.

Ladd has missed three weeks with a torn thumb ligament and is weighing whether to have surgery, Bone said.

Washington State does have depth at guard, and Reggie Moore, DaVonte Lacy and Marcus Capers will be counted on to play more minutes, Bone said.
