First freeze forecast for Columbia Basin

PENDLETON, Ore. —

The National Weather Service is forecasting the first freeze of the season this week for parts of Eastern Washington, including the Yakima Valley.

Forecasters say a cold front moving over the region will likely drop temperatures below freezing Tuesday night in the lower Columbia Basin.

The cold could affect crops in the area including Yakima, the Tri-Cities, and Boardman and Hermiston, Ore.
