OMAK Okanogan County — About 150 firefighters are still battling a wildfire 5 miles west of Omak.

Fire spokesman Steve Harris says updating mapping shows the blaze at 1,800 acres or nearly 3 square miles, but the fire was fairly inactive Wednesday. About 20 homes are threatened, but no evacuations have been ordered.

Harris says fire crews will hold a public meeting about the firefighting efforts at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Okanogan County commissioners meeting room in Okanogan.

Fire crews hope to fully contain two other fires in Eastern Washington on Wednesday. One is near the town of Pomeroy in the Palouse region, while the other is in south-central Washington near Wishram. No structures have been lost to those fires.
