Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives used flash-bang grenades to assist their entry into an apartment building in the Martha Lake area to serve a warrant about 6 a.m. Friday.

Cheryl Bishop, ATF spokeswoman, said the heavily armed agents were "executing a routine warrant," but would not comment on the nature of the warrant.

She described the explosives used in the raid as "flash and sound diversionary devices" often used to "stun and disorient" people inside a location being raided, in order to help officers enter more safely.

KOMO-TV reported the location as near North Road and 164th Street Southwest.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Bishop said, agents were still on the scene and had interviewed occupants of the apartment, but she did now know whether anyone had been taken into custody.
