All ashore for Seafair
The swashbuckling, fun-loving Seafair Pirates landed at Alki Beach on Saturday to officially open the Seafair season. It was part of a weekend full of Seafair events in and around Seattle.

The swashbuckling, fun-loving Seafair Pirates landed at Alki Beach on Saturday to officially open the Seafair season. It was part of a weekend full of Seafair events in and around Seattle.
The Ballard SeafoodFest also began Saturday and continues Sunday with food of all kinds, arts and crafts vendors, beer and wine gardens and entertainment. So does the Chinatown-International District Dragon Fest, which features Chinese lion and dragon dances, Japanese taiko drumming, historic walking tours, an outdoor market and activities.
Upcoming Seafair highlights include the Milk Carton Derby on July 16; the Torchlight Parade on July 30; and the Hydroplane Races and Air Show, featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Aug. 5-7.
