A 14-year-old boy was stabbed in South Seattle Thursday afternoon, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
Firefighters and police responded to a report of a stabbing near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Myrtle Street about 3 p.m., said Kyle Moore, a spokesman for the Seattle Fire Department.
The boy was taken to the Harborview Medical Center and is in stable condition, Moore said.
The boy was stabbed three times during a fight that broke out between two large groups of kids, said Officer Renee Witt, a spokeswoman for the Seattle Police Department.
The fight continued after the stabbing but was broken up by police officers, Witt said.
A suspect has been detained, she said.
