Washington lawmakers consider state bank
Bills in the Washington House and Senate would create a state bank to hold all state funds and make loans to businesses, farms and students within the state.

Bills in the Washington House and Senate would create a state bank to hold all state funds and make loans to businesses, farms and students within the state.
The sponsor in the House, Rep. Bob Hasegawa of Seattle, said state money should be reinvested and not put in an private bank.
State Treasurer James McIntire opposes the idea. He says it would be risky and violate the state constitution.
