A young woman who tipped over in her kayak and was unable to get back inside was rescued by the Coast Guard near Anacortes late Saturday afternoon.
The kayaker was off Guemes Island just after 5 p.m. when island residents heard her yells for help.
A mid-sized Coast Guard rescue boat in the area raced to the site and brought her to an aid unit waiting onshore, said a witness, Jim Cooper.
Nobody was injured, officials said.
