An Amtrak train struck and killed a person who was on the tracks north of the Tukwila station shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, an Amtrak spokesman said.

Amtrak Cascades Service Train No. 509 was traveling from Seattle to Portland with 205 people aboard, spokesman Cliff Cole said.

It wasn’t immediately known whether the person was male or female, Cole said.

No passengers or crew members were injured, he said.

The train was stopped while waiting for the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to recover the body.
