Live chat: Are you ready for La Niña?

Meteorologists are warning that a La Niña weather pattern is likely to bring colder, wetter and snowier conditions this year. As a result, they have kicked off a campaign called "Take Winter By Storm" to urge residents in the Puget Sound region to be prepared. A pair of local weather experts and a Seattle city transportation official will be taking questions during a live chat on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Andy Wappler, Puget Sound Energy

Andy Wappler, the campaign spokesman for "Take Winter by Storm," is vice president of corporate affairs for Puget Sound Energy. Andy is a frequent speaker to community groups on emergency preparedness and energy issues.

Rick Sheridan, communications manager, Seattle Department of Transportation

Rick Sheridan serves as communications manager for SDOT and is often the communications point person on the city's winter storm response.

Ted Buehner, meteorologist, National Weather Service of Seattle

Ted Buehner is a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Seattle. He also helps communities prepare for weather emergencies.
