Twenty-two crews from the Northwest, including two from Alaska, participated in the 11th annual Row for the Cure early Sunday on Lake Union. With events in 15 U.S. states and Germany, Row for the Cure has blossomed into a multisport event that includes athletes of all ages representing four sports; rowing, canoe/kayak, dragon boat and Native American paddling. So far, this year's event has raised $90,000 to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The total amount raised will be counted in a month when fundraising closes.

Some 122 rowing shells maneuvered the course, with a Boy Scout troop participating and the Tulalip Tribes rowing in a traditional canoe. All told, 660 rowers and paddlers participated.
