The King County Sheriff's Office says a driver who struck and killed a bicyclist early Sunday pulled over and fatally shot himself.
The King County Sheriff's Office says a driver who struck and killed a bicyclist early Sunday pulled over and fatally shot himself.
Just past 2 a.m., a 911 call was received about an accident that occurred at 228th Avenue Southeast and 444th Street in Enumclaw, according to the sheriff's office.
After the driver of the truck realized the bicyclist was dead, he shot himself, according to the sheriff's office.
Sgt. John Urquhart, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said an investigation into the incident was continuing and that he didn't have any more details.
Friends of the cyclist's told KING 5 that the cyclist had celebrated his 21st birthday on Saturday night at a bar and left the place on his bicycle early Sunday morning to pick up his truck at a nearby farm.
According to KING 5, the 21-year-old was on a rural road when a truck struck and killed him. The truck's 24-year-old driver got out and recognized the dead cyclist as the same man whose birthday he helped celebrate earlier, KING reported.
