Olympia lake closed to fishing by snail invasion

The state Fish and Wildlife Department has closed all fishing at Capitol Lake in Olympia to prevent the spread of New Zealand mudsnails, an invasive species.

The state Fish and Wildlife Department has closed all fishing at Capitol Lake in Olympia to prevent the spread of New Zealand mudsnails, an invasive species.

The Olympian reports the tiny snails can be transported on shoes or fishing gear.
