Surgery for Wash. woman burned by acid
A 28-year-old Vancouver, Wash., woman who had acid thrown in her face has undergone surgery at a Portland hospital.

PORTLAND, Ore. —
A 28-year-old Vancouver, Wash., woman who had acid thrown in her face has undergone surgery at a Portland hospital.
Legacy Emanuel Medical Center spokeswoman Amber Shoebridge said Wednesday night that Bethany Storro's surgery went well and she was resting.
Dr. Nick Eshraghi says he tested the substance and determined it was an extremely strong acid. He says Storro has a mixture of second-degree burns and perhaps deeper burns. His plan for the surgery was to remove as much damaged skin as possible. Sunglasses protected Storro's eyes during the Monday evening attack in downtown Vancouver.
Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp says detectives continue to investigate.
Storro's mother Nancy Neuwelt says her daughter was getting something from her car when an unknown woman walked up, asked a question and tossed a cup of liquid in Storro's face.
