C-17 squadron returns to Lewis-McChord

More than 120 airmen from the 8th Airlift Squadron are due to return Thursday to Joint Base Lewis-McChord after a four-month deployment in the Mideast to support wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

More than 120 airmen from the 8th Airlift Squadron are due to return Thursday to Joint Base Lewis-McChord after a four-month deployment in the Mideast to support wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The military base says the C-17 squadron moved more than 37,000 passengers and delivered more than 115 million pounds of cargo. In one one-week period, the squadron dropped 837 bundles with a combined weight of more than 1.1 million pounds on 22 drop zones.
