A ban on plastic bags at stores in Edmonds goes into effect Friday.
City recycling coordinator Steve Fisher told The Daily Herald, "When you shop in Edmonds, try to remember to bring your own bag."
The city council approved the ban last summer to reduce litter and encourage the use of reusable totes. Businesses that use plastic bags could be fined $100. Plastic bags are still OK for produce, meat and bulk food at groceries and for restaurant take-out food.
