Night Out Against Crime: How neighbors in Seattle got involved

Neighbors all across Seattle participated in Tuesday's "National Night Out."

National Night Out is designed to:
• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From West Seattle to Ballard, neighbors had block parties, with local police stopping in to say hello.

With Twitter and the help of media and citizens across the area, we tracked the festivities in the box below. Contributors shared reports and photos from their blocks using the #nwnightout hashtag.
