Joshua Lindenmayer, 12, of Seattle, left, climbs down the scaffolding after working with local street artist Derek Wu to paint a mural on a wall of the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle on Monday. The art center's Youth Art Works program has teamed up with Wu to create the mural one of the building's bare orange walls. Wu says the mural is inspired by M.C. Escher and has "a dream-like state".
Six aspiring young artists, ages 11-14, are putting the finishing touches this week on a mural in Seattle's Central Area that they are painting with local artist Derek Wu.
The mural at 20th Avenue South and South Jackson Street is being done as part of a two-week Youth Art Works project at the Pratt Fine Arts Center.
The mural is intended to beautify the exterior of Pratt's "Orange Building" and provide neighborhood teens with a chance to grow as artists.
A public dedication celebrating the project will be held at 6 p.m. Friday.
