Sound Transit is preparing to add four south-line commuter trains between 2012 and 2015 after its governing board on Thursday approved a $185 million deal for increased access to the BNSF Railway corridor.
The additional Sounder trains would bring the total to 13 round trips a day between Seattle and Pierce County. The money pays for permanent track access from Seattle to Tacoma. Sound Transit already owns trackway from Tacoma to Lakewood and plans to extend service to South Tacoma and Lakewood in 2012.
