2 women, 1 man hurt in Auburn shooting

Three people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds Saturday after a shooting in Auburn.

Three people, including a pregnant woman, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a shooting in Auburn Saturday.

The pregnant woman and a male patient, both 18 and both suffering life-threatening injuries, were being treated Saturday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The third victim, another woman, was being treated at Auburn General Hospital.

Auburn police said they received a call of gunshots being fired in the 1600 block of 33rd Street Southeast and, as police arrived, they saw two cars leaving the scene with their headlights off.

Police chased one of the vehicles and used a PIT maneuver — a tactic which forces the pursued car to veer sideways and lose control — in order to stop it. The occupants were arrested.

According to KOMO-TV, a preliminary investigation indicates the suspects and victims knew one another, and that the incident began when a man was shot at a party on 33rd Place Southeast.

The gunman and another man then went to a nearby location and shot the two women, Auburn Detective Sgt. James Nordenger told KOMO.

Valley Regional Fire Authority reported that firefighters were called to the 1700 block of 33rd Street Southeast about 1 a.m. to assist an 18-year-old man who had suffered several gunshot wounds.

Nordenger said the two women were put in separate cars and driven from the scene before help arrived.

The pregnant woman was taken to a gas station in the 600 block of Auburn Way South, where firefighters were called about 1:55 a.m.
