Spokane lawyer challenges red light camera tickets

Spokane lawyer John Clark argues that tickets issued by the city's red light cameras aren't legal because they aren't physically signed by an officer.

SPOKANE, Wash. —

Spokane lawyer John Clark argues that tickets issued by the city's red light cameras aren't legal because they aren't physically signed by an officer.

Clark argued Thursday in municipal court on behalf of five clients challenging their $124 tickets.

The Spokesman-Review reports Judge Mary Logan is waiting for more evidence to make a ruling.

Assistant City Prosecutor Janean Phillips says the tickets are signed when an officers pushes a computer button that tells an Arizona company to affix a digital photo of the officer's signature.
