EB I-90 backups, ferry waits slow travelers

Washington drivers hitting the road for Memorial weekend destinations found the going a little slow Friday evening.

The Associated Press

SEATTLE —

Washington drivers hitting the road for Memorial weekend destinations found the going a little slow Friday evening.

The Washington state Transportation Department reports holiday traffic volumes combined with an earlier collision to produce seven miles of eastbound traffic backups on Snoqualmie Pass. The department said at about 6 p.m. that motorists should expect two hours of added travel time. On Friday afternoon, that backup was 14 miles long.

Washington State Ferries reported early evening waits of 60 minutes to board ferries leaving Anacortes for the San Juan Islands. Delays were reported on other ferry routes as well due to heavier-than-normal traffic.
