A 3.4 magnitude earthquake hit the Duvall area at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no initial reports of damage, but many people in the rural area felt the quake.

The quake, at a depth of 3.9 miles, was centered about 10 miles northeast of Bellevue.

"I was at home, standing in my bedroom getting ready to put my shoes on and my closet doors started shaking," Deb VanWestrienen, grocery manager at a Safeway store. "I went out into the dining room and the hanging lamp was kind of swinging." The wind chime outside was also shaking, she said.

She said several customers in the store said they had felt the quake, but none reported any damage.
