CHIMACUM, Wash. —

Washington state and Jefferson County authorities have closed Anderson Lake near Chimacum to fishing and boating because of a bloom of toxic algae.

Water samples taken May 11 showed high levels of neurotoxin.

The Peninsula Daily News reports that a similar blue-green algae outbreak in 2006 is suspected of killing two dogs.
