SEATTLE — The shuttered T.T. Minor Elementary School in Seattle's Central Area will be the new home to an independent nonprofit school for students with dyslexia and other language-related difficulties.

The Seattle School Board approved a seven-year lease Wednesday night for Hamlin Robinson, which is currently based in South Seattle. The lease takes effect June 16 and ends on June 15, 2017. The first year's rent will be $104,400, according to the lease agreement.

T.T. Minor, at 17th Avenue East and East Union Street, closed after the 2008-2009 school year as part of districtwide cuts. It has been vacant with boarded-up windows in the months since.
