Martin Luther King Way shut for nearly an hour Saturday night following disturbance

Gunshots were reported in Seattle's south end late Saturday, as dozens of people spilled into the streets after unwanted guests at a house party caused a large disturbance that led to street fights and several arrests, according to Seattle police.

At 11:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home in the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way after several neighbors called 911 and reported hearing gunshots, police said. Officers spent a good deal of time chasing down possible armed suspects, breaking up fights and searching for gunshot victims.

At least two cars were stopped leaving the area, and a gun was found in one of them, according to police. Another vehicle was impounded while officers awaited a warrant to recover a handgun stashed in a car that was parked behind the party house.

A section of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South was closed for about an hour as police investigated. Though no victims were found at the scene, a 15-year-old boy showed up at Harborview Medical Center about 90 minutes after the initial disturbance with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. The boy told gang unit detectives that he was injured at the party but he didn't see who shot him.

Officers arrested six people, mostly on outstanding warrants or for investigation of false reporting and obstructing officers, while others were interviewed and released, according to police.
