Wrongful-death suit filed in Lakewood officer's death

The estate of one of the four Lakewood police officers killed by Maurice Clemmons has sued seven people accused of aiding him.

TACOMA — The estate of one of the four Lakewood police officers killed by Maurice Clemmons has sued seven people accused of aiding him.

The News Tribune reports the wrongful-death lawsuit was filed last week in Pierce County Superior Court by the estate of Officer Tina Griswold. She and police Sgt. Mark Renninger and Officers Greg Richards and Ronald Owens were shot to death by Clemmons at a Parkland coffee shop Nov. 29. Clemmons died after being shot by a Seattle officer two days later.

The lawsuit alleges the seven relatives and acquaintances of Clemmons conspired with him and helped him avoid arrest. All seven have pleaded not guilty to charges in the case.
