Sen. Murray meets with unemployed veterans

SEATTLE —

Sen. Patty Murray held a round-table discussion with some unemployed veterans in Seattle to hear about problems they're having finding jobs.

Some said employers don't understand how military skills translate in the civilian work force.

Some potential employers worry that vets will be affected by post traumatic stress disorder - and dive under a table when someone drops a hammer.

The discussion Tuesday was held at a south Seattle business, VECA Electric and Communications.

Murray says unemployment among young veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan is over 21 percent. She's preparing to introduce veterans employment legislation in the Senate.
