Reigning national player of the year Danielle Lawrie threw a perfect game to cap the first night contest in Husky softball history as Washington blanked Miami of Ohio 3-0 Thursday.
Lawrie's second perfect game of the season for the top-ranked Huskies (18-1), and a Washington-record third of her storied career, included 14 strikeouts. She passed the 1,500-strikeout mark for her career. Lawrie is now 13-0 this season.
She struck out the side in the second and the sixth innings, and fanned at least two in five of the seven innings. She threw just 62 pitches in a game that lasted just one hour and 36 minutes.
