Work begins on traffic-info signs in Seattle

New electronic traffic-message signs are slated to be installed, starting this week, at intersections in Seattle's Beacon Hill, Ballard, Interbay and Crown Hill areas to provide motorists more traffic information.

New electronic traffic-message signs are slated to be installed, starting this week, at intersections in Seattle's Beacon Hill, Ballard, Interbay and Crown Hill areas to provide motorists more traffic information.

Work starts Monday at Holman Road Northwest and 14th Avenue Northwest, then moves to 15th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 61st Street. After that will come 15th Avenue West and West Blaine Street, and finally South Columbian Way and 14th Avenue South.

The Seattle Transportation Department said contract crews would work from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily this week.

The work will mean some traffic lanes will be temporarily restricted, and congestion and delays are likely in those areas during work hours.
