Spokane-area firefighters rescued a man after his car went out of control and into a backyard swimming pool.

The Associated Press

SPOKANE, Wash. —

Spokane-area firefighters rescued a man after his car went out of control and into a backyard swimming pool.

Fire District 8 Division Chief Mitch Metzger tells The Spokesman-Review that the man, in his late 70s, lost control of the vehicle Saturday on the east side of the city. The car went several hundred feet before it landed in the pool. Firefighters think the accident happened after the man suffered some kind of medical attack.

Fire crews quickly arrived and rescued the man, who was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. His identity was not immediately available.
