Part of Burke-Gilman Trail reopens after slide

A portion of the Burke-Gilman Trail, closed for five days when it was buried by an estimated 60 yards of debris spurred by heavy rain, reopened Wednesday afternoon.

A portion of the Burke-Gilman Trail, closed for five days when it was buried by an estimated 60 yards of debris spurred by heavy rain, reopened Wednesday afternoon.

The section of trail, which has been off-limits since Jan. 15, was closed from roughly Northeast 142nd Street to Northeast 155th Street in Lake Forest Park.

King County Parks crews say the trail is safe to use again. The slide left no lasting damage to the trail, a spokesman said.

The Burke-Gilman Trail, which runs more than 18 miles from Shilshole Bay in Northwest Seattle to Bothell, intersects with the Sammamish River Trail.
