A 16-year-old boy is under police guard at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after police say he fatally shot a teenage girl in Burien before shooting himself.
The two juveniles were found at an apartment complex at 12445 Ambaum Blvd. S.W. in Burien around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. The girl later died at Harborview Medical Center.
Police were initially looking for a shooting suspect, who they believed had left the scene, but later they determined the 16-year-old boy shot the girl and then shot himself in the chest.
The boy is in serious condition with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to King County sheriff's spokesman Jim Laing.
Neighbors say the two teenagers were dating and that neighbors often overheard them fighting loudly, according to a KING-TV report.
Detectives are waiting to speak with the teenage boy, Laing said.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
