A 16-year-old boy is under police guard at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after police say he fatally shot a teenage girl Thursday night in Burien before shooting himself.
The two juveniles were found suffering from gunshot wounds at an apartment complex at 12445 Ambaum Boulevard Southwest in Burien around 9:30 p.m. The teenage girl later died at Harborview Medical Center.
Police were initially looking for a shooting suspect, but later determined the 16-year-old boy shot the girl and then shot himself in the chest.
The boy is in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Laing.
Neighbors say the two teenagers were dating and were often overheard fighting loudly, according to a KING-TV report.
Detectives are waiting to speak with the teenage boy as part of the investigation, Laing said.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
