What's open, closed on New Year's Day
What's open and closed today for New Year's Day.
• Banks and credit unions are closed.
• City, county and state offices are closed.
• Post offices are closed with no home delivery except for Express Mail.
• Seattle, King County and Sno-Isle libraries are closed.
• Most state liquor stores are open.
• Many area malls and retail centers are open.
• Garbage, recycling and yard-waste pickups for Seattle residents are suspended; pickups will be Saturday for households usually served Fridays. Containers should be out by 7 a.m. Recycling and disposal stations are closed.
• Metro, Sound Transit and Community Transit are operating on Sunday schedules.
• The Edmonds/Kingston ferry is operating on a holiday schedule; Mukilteo/Clinton and Seattle/Bainbridge Island ferries are operating on Saturday schedules; Point Defiance/Tahlequah ferry is operating on a weekend schedule. Other Washington State Ferries are operating on their regular weekday schedules. More information at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule.
