Wounded Pierce Co. deputy still in critical condition

Kent Mundell, one of the Pierce County sheriff's deputies shot Monday night near Eatonville, remained in critical condition Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Kent Mundell, one of the Pierce County sheriff's deputies shot Monday night near Eatonville, remained in critical condition Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

His partner, Sgt. Nick Hausner, was released from Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis on Thursday. Soon after his release, Hausner visited Mundell, who has been on life support.

Sheriff's investigators are still piecing together what happened in the home where David E. Crable shot the two deputies. Hausner and Mundell were called to the Tanwax Lake home of Crable's brother, Jason, who wanted his "drunk and belligerent" brother to leave.

After the deputies arrived, David Crable had agreed to go, but pulled out a handgun and opened fire, according to the sheriff's office.
