TRI-CITIES — A 19-year-old man was struck and killed by a train south of the Tri-Cities near Finley.

A passer-by found the body this morning, said Benton County sheriff's spokesman Steve Keane.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas say the man was hit at 7:50 a.m. by a freight train traveling from Portland. Investigators are questioning the crew at a stop at Hauser, Idaho.

Melonas says the man was struck 120 feet from the nearest crossing. He says the death was the 15th this year in Washington of someone trespassing on BNSF track.
