A Concrete man was killed and a friend of his was injured early Saturday on Highway 20, about three miles west of town, when the vehicle they were in struck a utility pole and both men were ejected.
State Patrol troopers said the man who died in the crash, 25-year-old Christopher Paul Lilly, wasn't wearing a seat belt and may have been driving under the influence. The crash occurred near the intersection of the highway and Challenger Road and was reported about 4:35 a.m. Saturday.
Lilly was driving a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser east on the highway when he lost control, troopers said.
His passenger — Brice D. Kucera, 21, of Concrete — told investigators that the two men had been in Bellingham drinking and were returning home, said Trooper Keith Leary, a Patrol spokesman.
Both men were ejected in the accident and Kucera was knocked unconscious, Leary said.
