Problem with boiler sends smoke over downtown

Seattle firefighters were called to building at First Avenue and Seneca Street this morning after black smoke was seen rising above downtown Seattle.

Seattle firefighters were called to building at First Avenue and Seneca Street this morning after black smoke was seen rising above downtown Seattle.

There was no fire, according to a Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman, "but some kind of issue with a boiler that caused smoke." No one was hurt, the spokeswoman said.

The call came in at 9:05 a.m., the spokeswoman said.
