The Pierce County sheriff's department says Lakewood police Officer Greg Richards was the one who fought with and wounded Maurice Clemmons.

TACOMA, Wash. —

The Pierce County sheriff's department says Lakewood police Officer Greg Richards was the one who fought with and wounded Maurice Clemmons.

Clemmons is accused of killing Richards and three other officers at a Parkland coffee shop on Sunday. Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said Tuesday that Richards fought with Clemmons after the three other officers were gunned down and before Richards died near the shop's entrance.

Clemmons was shot in the torso. He eluded authorities until Tuesday morning when he was shot and killed by a Seattle police officer.
