CHEHALIS — The man accused of shooting another man with a crossbow in Pe Ell told police he just wanted to scare him.

CHEHALIS — The man accused of shooting another man with a crossbow in Pe Ell told police he just wanted to scare him.

Documents filed in Lewis County Superior Court say Lehman Neil Delavergne was angry because his estranged wife was staying at the home of the 62-year-old victim. The man was shot in the neck with a crossbow bolt and also stabbed in the Nov. 18 attack.

Delavergne surrendered Friday and was ordered held Tuesday on $1 million bail for investigation of attempted murder.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports Delavergne has a record of convictions for assault, malicious mischief, domestic violence and burglary.
