ARLINGTON, Wash. —

Kris Johnson has been looking for regular work for months and says he was going to have to juggle money around to buy a Thanksgiving turkey for his family. But a spare couple of dollars he invested in Washington state Lotto tickets last week netted him a $6.5 million jackpot.

The 32-year-old Arlington software support analyst says he was laid off more than a year ago when the company he worked for was purchased and shut down.

On Monday he said he was "still kind of in shock" at his jackpot.

He says he plans to head back to school, fix up his grandparents' place and pay for college for his three children, ages 7, 8 and 12.
