Vikings smash Seahawks with stout defense vs. run

The Minnesota Vikings have their vaunted run defense back in form.

AP Sports Writer

MINNEAPOLIS —

The Minnesota Vikings have their vaunted run defense back in form.

The Vikings yielded the fewest yards rushing in the NFL in each of the last three seasons, but their dominance has slipped a little this year. They entered Sunday's game against Seattle ranked sixth in the league in that category.

But the Vikings held the Seahawks to just 4 yards on 13 attempts. Minnesota's all-time record was set in 2006, holding the Detroit Lions to minus-3 yards rushing.

This was a franchise worst for Seattle, which lost 9 yards on a broken third-and-2 play when backup quarterback Seneca Wallace was forced out of bounds by Ray Edwards.
