Feds: 6 illegal immigrants arrested in Wash.
Immigration officials say six illegal immigrants have been arrested in Mount Vernon, Wash., after agents descended on a trailer park.
The Associated Press
Immigration officials say six illegal immigrants have been arrested in Mount Vernon, Wash., after agents descended on a trailer park.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lorie Dankers says five men and one woman, ages 19 to 34, were arrested Tuesday.
Dankers says agents arrested two people who are admitted members of the Sureno gang - including one person with a previous criminal history with firearms.
Deportation proceedings have begun for all six.
A lawyer representing one of the men who was not a gang member says it's dangerous for ICE agents to draw their guns in a public place where children may be present - the trailer park is near a middle school and community college.
Attorney Carol Edwards says her client was driving in the trailer park when agents with guns drawn stopped him and asked him about his immigration status.
